Welcome to WiCam!
This page describes how to setup WiCam for the first time. It assumes you already have an FTP Server running on your computer or website, and have the details at hand. For further guidance on setting up your own FTP server, please visit our support web page (see below).
Quick Start Guide
- Before you can use WiCam, you need to enter details of at least one FTP server, which you can log into and upload images. To do this, simply click “FTP Settings” from the main menu and select the “Edit” button.
- To add a new server, click the “+” button and enter the details for your server. You will need to provide a valid URL or IP Address for your FTP Server.
- Unless your Server accepts anonymous FTP logins you will need to provide a username and password to login. Enter these in the given fields.
- If you are uploading to a specific folder, then this can also be entered. Otherwise leave this blank and your image will upload to the default folder for your account on the server.
- You can optionally give the server a name, to allow you to identify it later.
- In most cases you will want to use passive FTP, however this can be turned off if your Server requires active FTP.
- Once you are happy you have entered the correct information, you can press the “Test” button. This will attempt to log info your FTP Server. If this fails, check your settings and try again. Once you see the “Test Pass ” message, your application is configured correctly!
- Next you might want to check your user preferences. Select “Preferences” from the main menu to display these. The first thing you should do is enter a filename. This will be the filename of the image when it is uploaded to the server. Each time you upload this file will be replaced, unless you select the “Add date-stamp to filename” option, in which case a new file will be uploaded each time.
- The default is to send images as JPEG (.jpg) files, but this can be changed to “PNG” using this option. The “Allow image editing” option simply allows you to edit the image, by cropping and zooming, before you send. The final option on the preferences page allows you to save a copy of each image in the “Camera Roll’ folder. Now you are all set!
Once you have finished configuring the application, you can take photos using the “Capture and Send “ option. These images will be uploaded to your Server automatically. You can also send previous images, using the “Select and Send” option.

Happy snapping!
